The Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog is a naturally bob-tailed breed. It has a square body and plenty of leg length under the body. They are not to be confused with Australian Cattle Dogs that have had their tails docked.

There are major structural differences in breed type between the two breeds of Cattle Dogs. If a Stumpy Tail dog is born with a long tail, it should not be discarded from a breeding program if it is of structural quality, and bred back to quality natural bob tails.
